Again, this type of cartridge needs to be replaced regularly however they are still generally much better value than buying bottled water from the grocery store.
For a few extra dollars you can have various other types of water filter cartridge fitted around your home. Two of the most popular choices are the faucet filter and the shower filter. Faucet filters are spliced into the water supply line so that all of the water that passes through and out of the faucet is cleaned. You can even have a mains water filter cartridge fitted under your kitchen sink so that all of the water coming into the house is filtered.
Depending on the quality of water entering your home you will need a water filter replacement cartridge every 4-6 months. These are easily found though and some brands offer discounts for buying two or three in one transaction.
